I’m quite concerned that we are swimming in a sea of toxins.
Most food products, unless you shop at a natural foods stores—which I do, contain more chemicals than actual food.
Thank goodness for projects such as Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.
But changes from projects such as that take time.
One of many stories that affect me directly:
The pet food problem with melamine (plastic) added to pet food additives from China.
My cat’s food was the only line of Science Diet pet food that was recalled. And that was because they thought it possibly had been tainted—not because they were sure it was. They were being cautious.
But afterwards, my cat did develop kidney disease and malformed kidneys that she did not have before. It affected the quality and probably the length of her life.
The explosion of chemical usage developed primarily after World War II with the hope and expectation of bettering the world with larger crop yield, better health, longer life that have, indeed, helped our lives.
But now money and profit seem to come before people’s health and safety.
So we all need to be aware of what we are using, eating and surrounding ourselves with.
Thanks to Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families to getting the word out and for allowing people to tell their stories.
